Governor Abdulaziz Abubakar Yaris's stance on issue bordering overstaffing of the Local governments by previous Administration in Zamfara is really worrisome, a going concern which I subscribe to in my personal opinion.
Let me emulate from an example he sighted in his media interview, Talata Mafara local government is really over staffed like he highlighted where you have more than 3000 staffs managing an organisation that requires fewer than thousands to effectively manage its affairs.
Provisional offers for employment were biegn sold, dashed, distributed by previous heads of the council.
So many reasons were attached to the offer distribution spree which were merely selfish, political and mischievous.
Those offers were either as consolation to politicians, assistance to family and friends or associates.
Almost all the the big political wigs and most prominent personalities in Talata Mafara has their wives, children and grand children on the payroll of either The local government or the Local Education Authority.
The Governor, if really means business, he should do the action no matter whose interest is affected to sanitized and remove the burden on local governments.
However, the sin of the father should not be forgotten, The governor should as a matter of urgency and emergency rescind withholding Local Governments' allocation.
Local government councils couldn't achieved maximum productivity when the are paid only stipends monthly, with their full monthly allocation they can execute meaningful projects, meet other financial obligations, therefore, allocating schedules to their redundant staffs for effectiveness.
So, by implication the state government's policy on local government allocation contributed immensely to the redundancy than overstaffing.
If cash backed, the redundancy will disappear as they will be seen busy, the productivity in the councils would be abstract and glaring therefore improving their efficiency.
So, apportioning blame and pointing accusing finger is not the solution, the situation is whimsical.
On the other hands, what is the rationale behind subjecting the workers of Talata Mafara local government to redundancy, by the council chairman, notably the revenue collectors, giving the schedule to a mere motor park Union N.U.R.T.W in the name of transparency?
What would be the possible solution towards addressing the quagmire?
The Governor should call a spade its name;
Total restructuring of Local government service in the state as it affects mode of recruitment, re- training etc.
2. Retrench all those housewives, their under aged children, proxy workers, unqualified staffs, redeployment of personnel (a situation where secondary school failure in Health department collects salary more than a civil engineer in works department) to their appropriate units and/or departments.
3.Local government's funds should be available to them promptly.
I suggest the above will reduce the burden and enhance efficiency.
Poverty has also stricken the state because the economy of the state is centralized, the majority of the fortune goes to foreigners in the name of road construction and consultancy.
Local government is the government of the grass root where common man has access and his voice is heard.
Let's the state government keeps its own money do what pleases them, but let the Local people have their own local monies.
