I am so much in support of restructuring of our educational sector. The level at which our educational sector deteriorated is beyond imagination and needs a very powerful, fearless and serious minded person that will totally overhaul it for the interest of the people and nation at large.
That is why I doff my hat for Kaduna state governor Mallam Nasir El-rufa'i for having the guts and audacity to do what others found difficult. Where I'm not with him, is the method he applies to remedy the negative situation. But it has to be done if he's to revive the sector.
In most of the states and local governments in Nigeria, primary school teaching has become a politically compensating ground for politicians' wives and relatives whenever election is won. It resulted in having half literates as teachers in most of the primary schools. This, and other factors, contributed a lot in deterioration of education in Nigeria. That's why we are educationally half-baked, just like me here.
I am sure, if same examination is be conducted today in Kaduna, many, not all, may not score even 50% marks.
And the problem is not only in Kaduna, it is associated with almost all the states in the federation, north in particular. I believe if the same method would be applied in post primary schools and most importantly, in our tertiary institutions, we would bury our faces in shame, because there would be many lecturers, who are nowhere close to being lecturers in our tertiary institutions of today.
Getting rid of unqualified teaching materials in our schools is a welcome development, and a task that must be done by any right thinking, serious minded leader if we are to restore our dignity as a nation. But the state governor should have used other channels available to him in order not to make as many as more than 20, 000 people with families to cater for jobless.
If I were the governor, I would have employed the methods Zamfara and Sokoto states did, to train those that are trainable. For those that cannot be trained, I would transfer them to KASTELIA where he recently established.....and this should have been done before the mass employment in the institution.
And for women who are not fit for KASTELIA, I will take them to where they would be feeding the school children via his feeding programme. Anyone who's not interested, should put forward his resignation letter. That's all!
I hope the governor will look into it.

It was learnt that the governor, who disguised to enter the Villa, avoided the prying eyes of journalists at the seat of power. A government source said: “The governor was looking visibly disturbed, but it was obvious he was seeking help.
