When Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was in power, the Igbo's and Niger-Deltans supported him unconditionally without any agenda that promote their regional wellbeing and development, by simply believing he was one of them.
His tenure ended without uplifting living index of the region only empowered few individuals. Even in the face of massive corruption, lack of good roads and good health facilities etc, the region stuck with him. "He is awa son", they said.
In 2011, when General Buhari took the Yorubas for granted not leaning towards their agenda for economic growth, they abandoned him and went with Jonathan.
When Jonathan did not fulfil the Yoruba economic terms after helping him win the election in 2011, they abandoned him too, and accepted General Buhari's bid to be president in 2015, when he became more wiser politically.
Today, Yoruba are using their positions in Buhari's government in building lasting economic legacies that will benefit their unborn children.
Hausa-Fulani kept on supporting Buhari all through his political career, and they do so unconditionally without any agenda for economic growth and infrastructural development. All they have going is the belief that he is one of them.
The states in the north have nothing to show but continuous urchinism and increase in abject poverty. Most of the state governors in the region cannot pay salaries even with bailout funds and Paris refund.
With poverty, continuing corruption, bad roads that are death traps, lack of or no improvement in health care and schools, kidnapping, killings and heartless secret employment designed only to benefit the children of the connected and powerful. We will still close our eyes. You dare not tell them to be critical in thinking.
At the end of Baba Buhari's government, the North, like Igbo's and Niger-Deltans may have nothing to show, other than our own was the leader.
If Yoruba land is a country, it would have been the best country in Africa joining shoulders with Europe. I like Yoruba's foresights. I like Yoruba's political and economic agenda.
