Ibrahim Shehu Gusau and George Olamide were on Wednesday in Abuja elected as President and Vice-President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) respectively.
The AFN the elections, which were held at the National Stadium involved four contestants for the two positions.
Gusau was elected as president with 48 votes as against 2 votes for his opponent, Mary Collins.
In the election for the position of vice-president, Olamide got 43 votes to defeat former African sprint champion Mary Onyali who got 3 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Gusau, said he would work to promote the athletics sport from the grassroots.
"We will take Nigerian athletics to the level of competing with the world. We will start the work from the grassroots. That is one of the ways we can promote the game in the country," he said.
In hockey, Senator Ningi was elected president with Simon Nkom as his vice-president.
Sen. Abdul Ningi and Simon Nkom were on Tuesday in Abuja elected President and Vice-President respectively of the Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF).
The duo were elected unopposed.
Ningi who was returning to his post, said after the elections that he would bring about a new era in the NHF.
Also yesterday, Sam Ocheho was elected President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), beating the immediate-past President, Yusuf Dauda.
Ocheho garnered 31 votes as against 19 votes for Dauda to emerge the new HFN president, while Kwasi Thomson emerged the vice president unopposed.
Ocheho later said in an interview that he would bring back the lost glory of handball in Nigeria.
"We will take the Federation to a new level by working to put everything in shape in handball.
"We will be representing Nigeria in international championships and we will come back home with medals. We will work hard to take handball to the next level," he said.

Similarly, Adeoye was emerged unopposed as Shooting Federation president yesterday, while Julius Orioko also won unopposed as vice president.
The results of the election was announced by Amos Dunia, chairman of the federation's electoral committee.
