Dr Zainab Urges Revival of Reading Culture Among Children As Bashir Alabi Lunch's Book

Various Prominent Stakeholders and members of the literary Society in Kebbi state have decried the decline in reading culture amongst the younger generation and called on them to urgently improve on this problem. The call was made at the launch of two books by a brilliant young Author Bashir Alabi on Tuesday 18th July. Those present at the launch and making this plea were the Kebbi state commissioners for Education and Higher Education, Wife of the governor, Emir of Gwandu and State house of Assembly leader.

Mother of the day, Dr Zainab Umar Shinkafi insisted on giving the author a standing ovation for his contribution to the literary world. She used the occasion to urge parents to delineate culture and religion and desist from using non existent religious rules to stop education of our children especially girls. In addition she said reading will divert youth away from the culture of hate speech. She thanked the traditional and religious rulers for supporting her crusade for the girl child always.

The book was launched by the State Government for N3M and Her Excellency donated N1M on behalf of the herself, the wives of the deputy governor Haj Halima Yombe, wife of SSG Haj Furaira Babale Umar, wife of Head of Service Haj Bilkisu Abubakar, her team members and the Medicaid Cancer Foundation. Other donors were Alh Faruk Musa, Her Excellency Hadiza Abdulazeez Yari, Alh Sani Dododo, Hon Bello Rilisco, Hon Usman Buhari, Alh Abubakar Nayaya etc. Over N7M was realized.
