Nigerian Hausa Films industry awarded five Kannywood stars for their tremendous contributions to the development of the society.
The awards were presented during the 5th National Convention of Kungiyar Makarantan Mujallar Fim (KMMF) in Gusau, Zamafara state capital.
The awards were meant to encourage the recipients in their vocation of film acting and producing.
Among the awardees is Hadiza Gabon who has made an indelible mark in Hausa movie industry through her numerous educating and entertaining films.
Others are Umar Sheriff, Nazifi Asnanic, Rabiu Rikadawa as well as Usman Mu'azu.
Commenting on the development, the Public Relations Officer of Kannywood Guild of Directors, Malam Usman Mu’azu, who bagged an award for best producer, described it as an eye opener not only to him but to many filmmakers in the industry.
He said, “The award was in recognition of our relentless efforts to uniting and sustaining Hausa culture as well as the growth of the larger society.”
He enjoined other northern states to emulate Zamfara by rewarding film makers in their respective states, saying by so doing, the movie stars could be drawn closer to various stakeholders to chart a way forward in promoting Hausa values.
‘’Nothing represents and promotes Hausa values other than these Hausa films we produce, and because we are not being encouraged by our traditional and religious leaders you begin to see some aspects of Indian culture creeping into our films which is inappropriate’’ Mu’azu said.
