161 members of the Federal House Of Representatives, Abuja have not sponsored a single bill in two years according to recently released findings.
Virtually all the seven members from Zamfara State, with the exception of Hon. Hussain Abubakar Moriki who sponsored a bill, have not sponsored a single bill more than two years after inauguration. The six with no bill to their credit are: Hon. Lawali Hassan Anka, Hon. Abdulmalik Bungudu, Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, Hon. Yahaya Chado, Hon. Ibrahim Isah Ruwan Doruwa and Hon. Lawal Mu’azu.
Each lawmaker receives N7.6 million as running or overhead cost with additional N660, 000 as monthly salary, which amounts to N8.26m monthly.
In the last 26 months they have been there so far, each of the seven lawmakers from Zamfara state has received about N214.7m each, totalling about N1.5billion for doing nothing in the National Assembly.
To me, it is not a surprise, because virtually all the members from Zamfara state were not prepared nor capable to represent our people in a complex and competitive assembly like NASS.
None of them participated in primary election, they were only selected via a kangaroo panel constituted by the so called political jingoists for their vested interests and to compensate some of their political godfathers. We have to expect nothing qualitative from them as we have seen.
I have seen a video, a member from Zamfara state presenting a petition, for the first time, on the flow of the National Assembly. I have observed Hon. Speaker Dogara shaking his head after the member finished his presentation. Didn't know why he was shaking head.....but I guessed something.
