Whenever I hear people complaining President Buhari refused to visit his support base and citadel of Nigeria's politics, I laughed.
People don't know politicians, popular politician like president Muhammad Buhari are very comfortable about their support base. Kano is the only state in Nigeria President Buhari never lost in 2003,2007,2011 and lastly 2015.
When he finally became the President, Kano is the state President Buhari allocated highest number of political appointees, it surpasses his state of origin ,Katsina state. Most of these appointments are very sensitive.
Its left for them to help the president maintain his grip on Kano.
Students of History will never forget that Buhari factor in 2003 sent an incumbent and powerful Governor parking from Kano state Government House despite his quest to secure a second term by hook or crook.
When I attended Buhari's rally in 2003 at Kano Race course the General said I was in Kano to greet you, because I dont have problem in the state.
I can assure you Buhari is more popular in Kano than Katsina state ,On september 23, 2003 a day to Buhari's appeal at the Presidential election Tribunal when his deputy Dr Wiberforce william Chuba Okadigbo was teargassed the General said '' Mutanen Kano mungode da zaben da kuka yi mana''
When we were about to storm the Kano pillars stadium that september 2003, Buhari and his host Governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau appproached the pillars stadium, security agents on the orders of the mighty Federal Government blocked the gate raising their guns, to my hearing Governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau directed the youth to break the stadium's gate for our entry, what a dynamic human being, today Malam Shekarau have parted ways with Buhari politically but Abbas Yushau and his teeming supporters are still with President Buhari.
Go ahead General Kano people are still with you, your teeming volunteers will not relent , Kano is still your support base and it will continue to be.
By the time you retire from politics, I shall by the grace of Allah retire from supporting any politician.
