Abdulhadi Sa'idu (Garkuwan Yan'ware) 1980 - 2017

Earlier this year, when the rebuild Zamfara Initiative wanted awarding him, he was asked to submit his citation. He called me and said, "Sani bai kamata in kambama kaina rubuta ka tura musu" I replied "to Ai Nima ban Iya kambama mutane ba, but I'll write the little I know about you".

This is what I wrote about him, Adieu my Brother, Goodnight my Friend, until we meet my boss.

Hon. Abdulhadi Sa'idu (Garkuwan Yanware) was born in Yanware of Tsafe local government of Zamfara state in the year 1980 Into the family of Alhaji Sa'idu Yanware.

He started his Islamic education at a very early age, and at that tender age he was enrolled into the Western education, where he got his primary school Education at an early and proceeded directly for his secondary school Education at the Government Science Secondary School in Gusau, Zamfara state where he obtained his Senior Secondary School Certificate.

He briefly went to Zamfara state college of Arts and social Sciences before finally moving to Kaduna polytechnic where he got a Diploma in Personnel Management then further obtained a National Diploma in Business Administration and Higher National Diploma in Cooperatives Economics and Management respectively.

In his further quest for knowledge and education, Garkuwan Yanware went further to enroll in his Alma mater, Kaduna polytechnic and once again got a postgraduate Diploma in human resource management.

Hon. Abdulhadi Sa'idu since childhood has been known for his excellent leadership qualities, he portrayed his skills while he was in Kaduna polytechnic where as early as his Diploma level he was elected to represent his unit thereby becoming the Vice President College of administration and business studies of the National Union of Zamfara State Students and during his Higher National Diploma he headed the National Union of Zamfara state students as the president, during his tenure he singlehandedly changed the course of unionism not just in NUZAMSS but in the entire Polytechnic which earned him the award of the best performing President in the whole of Kaduna polytechnic, which happens to be the largest Polytechnic in sub-saharan Africa.

His enormous contribution towards better representation earned him so much respect within the polytechnic community among students, academic and non-academic staff of the institution. He was hailed as the Messiah of Unionism during his time in office.

Garkuwan Yanware held other offices while in the academic environment, being a senator representing kaduna polytechnic in the National body of NAZAMSS, a member of the legislative arm of Gamji Memorial club and held numerous honorary memberships and awards of various unions and associations.

His transparency and accountability in all dealings gave him the ability to be elected as the financial Secretary of the Cooperatives, economics and management studies students association where he rivaled all his contemporaries. In the College of Business and Management studies, he was awarded as the 'the most political' due to his political and diplomatic approach to issues.

His love for his culture and tradition made him to always portray his rich culture in a cosmopolitan community like kaduna polytechnic which comprises of all tribes from Nigeria and even from outside the country, he was awarded as the 'most Dressed Native'.

His generosity knows no bounds and this is seen in an award he won as 'the most generous'. Abdulhadi is truly an icon to beckon.

After all his struggles in school unionism, he came out to the mainstream politics where he made a name for himself, he has been steadfast and true to his calling. From a humble beginning, he began his aspiration to contest for councillorship of his Ward, he strived hard but was unable to clinch the ticket, Garkuwa did not see it as a failure, he rather worked hard and continued in his struggles.

In 2012, He was nominated by his party where he contested for Tsafe local government chairmanship, he lost that election but he was still determined and in 2015 he got nominated to contest for State house of Assembly to represent Tsafe East in the Zamfara State House of Assembly in what is to be fierce battle, in the primary election Garkuwan Yanware swept and won the nomination with an overwhelming majority having secured 39 out of the 40 votes whilst his opponent got 0 vote and the remaining 1 was damaged, this clearly illustrated his enormous followersip and the need for him to serve his people.

At the general election which was also highly competed, Abdulhadi lost in an unexplainable circumstance seeing the outpour of votes he got, he lost the election and out of love for the rule of law he took his case to the tribunal which ended in the appeal courts.

The efforts of this young political icon did not go unnoticed as he was selected by his Party's National Headquarters, the PDP and was given the role to represent all Zamfara State youths in the party's caretaker committee, a position he held for a year. His sagacity in Zamfara state political class has made his name etched in the mind of all Zamfara state enclave.

Garkuwan Yanware has been resolute in his stance on good governance, people oriented leadership, and policies of government that touches the life of the masses. His unwavering and total support for his political party is admirable, he has been a strong force to reckon with and a great man whose political journey has just begun.
He is know to be tolerant, forebearing and helpful to whoever he meets, he support and help those in need no matter where they come from regardless of party affiliation or any other sentiments, he is the embodiment of Service to humanity, all this did not go unnoticed as the district head of Yanware saw it fit, and awarded him with the title of 'Garkuwan Yanware' (the shield of Yanware) in recognition of his numerous assistance and aid he gives out to people. Garkuwa is truly a role model.

Hon Abdulhadi Sa'idu is married and blessed with a son.

Allow me to introduce to you, a man of honor, a man of integrity, a vibrant young politician, a cheerful giver whose generosity knows no bounds, an icon of true struggle Hon. Abdulhadi Sa'idu Garkuwan Yanware.
