Zamfara: Another Advice To The Committee On Mass Failure

Continuation on written(by me) articles with respect to the committee.

Apart from the two  point I highlighted in my previous write up, I deemed it necessary to add these three important solutions that I  feel are part of the proper ways of reducing if not solving the issue of  excess (SSSCE)’s mass failure in the state.

Here are the solutions;

PROPER MOTIVATION TO THE TEACHERS

Most of the teachers that are taking teaching as passion are not after self-enrichment with their jobs, they secured those jobs to enable them  provide themselves with subsistence needs of life (shelter, food and clothing). They know that nobody can pay them their services except Allah.

To make them more courageous in their works, government should apply both the maintenance and motivational factors of motivation concept to make them concentrated in discharging their duties. On maintenance approach, government should consider these and other good ways;

 Pay them their salaries on time. Imagine how a teacher can teach effectively without receiving his salary of a given month and his family are there waiting for him to bring them food and other needs of them.

It should give them special treatment, when there is any financial crisis. Government should look for any possible way of paying them, so that they can be able to do their job appropriately.

On motivational approach,
Government should introduce ways of rewarding teachers, like organizing competition among teachers for a very huge price in each and every subject at all level of studies.

ENCOURAGEMENT TO THE STUDENTS

Many students are not paying their attention to pass the SSSCE, due to the fact, that their  papers would not be release on time, which may lead them lose admissions at various high institution of learning.

I believe most of the students have an experience of this. They know at least two or more than that of their seniors that got admissions and were not able to make it because their papers were not released as of then. To solve this issue, government should;

Pay, negotiate with the examination bodies or with the institutions as the case may be make these students not lose their admissions.

Give real sponsorship and scholarship to the deserving students, not rickety sponsorship (to sponsor them to study at various private universities the courses that are even better at our states and federal universities).

Organize inter and intra schools competitions to encourage the students to read well, also the best student of the year competition, it can name the competitions as governor’s cups etc.

Appointment into the offices of education sectors should not be by bartering.

Commissioners, special advisers to principals and headmasters down to recruitment of teachers should not be based on somebody’s political contribution to the government. It should be based on merit and experience.

MAY Allah bring this to an end, bless Zamfara state, it students, it citizens and the government. Also this write up is wishing this committee success in their duty.

THANKS.
