We, the Students of the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina are surprised at the level of insensitivity, inattentiveness, neglect, abandonment and sheer silence of the Masari led administration on the happenings in the University, Katsina.
It is either because he was not a party to its establishment and wants to destroy Education in the State in the name of restoration or he is naïve to the running of a Nigerian University he inherited from his predecessor who in turn inherited it from the father Mallam Umaru Musa Yar’adua of blessed memory, but, truly we suspect a hidden agenda to destroy the school of the masses by the Visitor.
It is good if we state why we think there is a despicable plan against the University these are: first, the Katsina State Government on its own decision decided to institute a visitation panel, where millions of tax-payers money were spent; the panel did its work in about six weeks and presented its report, in which we saw in the Newspapers such captions as: Heads of tertiary institutions in Katsina State were indicted and most National dailies carried the report which we ought to remember.
Thereafter the APC led Government came up and said they will act appropriately based on the recommendations of the panel. This is about eleven (11) month; the report is never made public. Then about three month ago, another committee was formed to study the visitation recommendations and come up with a whitepaper, the committee also submitted its report where we heard the Governor saying, he inherited the present VC and allowed him to continue, where the Chairman of the Whitepaper Committee recommended that in subsequent appointments of heads of institutions, only people with maturity and technical withal shall be appointed and to date there was no information about the whitepaper- this is a public institution and public funds were involved, yet, we were greeted with silence after also spending the tax-payers fund. It is on record that any public office holder in whose name a whitepaper is written will never hold any public office, but to date, the Government is silent. Nobody hears anything, at least as students of the University, we deserve a feedback.
The condition of work in the University continue to deteriorate to the extent that the Unions had to come out to boldly state that the Vice Chancellor, is not competent to lead them as such a ‘vote of confidence’ title was conferred on him and that they will not work with him again, this issue is now almost 10 weeks: No Senate meetings, no results for students, no date of examination, no timetable, those of us who should have graduated and mobilized are yet to know our faith; and the Masari led administration continue to ignore- if they do not have a hidden agenda why the silence. If they are not here to destroy what the previous governments established and sustained for a decade is now being rendered useless in less than three years! Definitely, THERE IS A HIDDEN AGENDA OF DESTRUCTION TO THE SYSTEM.
For the avoidance of doubt, let us inform the Katsina State APC led administration that UMYU has played a very significant role in the training of more than 12,000 state indigenes in different fields of study and some of such graduates are now PhD holders. It is important to state that some married women whose husbands were not ready to allow them to study outside Katsina are now graduates because they registered and obtained their degree in UMYU, Elderly civil servants who were not in the position to leave their families to study in ABU Zaria or BUK resort to registering for Bachelor’s degree in UMYU and have obtained it. In addition to all these people, women who could not sustain their marriages resort to coming to Yar’adua University to obtain Bachelor’s degree.
Presently there are more than 2000 staff working in the University in addition to about 8,000 students: undergraduate and post graduate students. They are all voters and they are ready to use their families and relatives to vote out Masari since it is becoming a reality, that Masari and Mallam I.I. Funtua, *the so-called Professor who could not see the danger signal after the public hearing at the Government formed visiting panel to the University) to change his method of governance; had a hidden agenda to destroy Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina as such claimed what he did was right.
Let us look at a simple political calculation (from the little I learnt as an elective course student in the Department of Political Science in UMYU) First, can Mallam Idris Isa Funtua whose family reside in Bakori Road Funtua, who was instrumental to withdrawing more than 23 (200-300-400 level Students) on that road alone in Funtua, and who was never in politics and does not regard his neighbours and relatives as human beings; to him, they are sheer illiterates who know nothing because he is a Professor by Research and knows rocks and stones- can he influence the re-election of Masari come 2019? in his Bakori road in the midst of those families whose children he withdrew from the University some of whom have resort to drug abuse and other social vices to cause nuisance to the community for being withdrawn from Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina. This hazardous act was committed by their brethren from Funtua, before the end of their stay as students in the University. How many families are angry with this in his constituency alone not to talk of the larger Katsina State? How many votes can this ‘Professor’ attract for Masari come 2019 in Bakori Road or the larger Funtua or even Funtua Zone? Unless there is a hidden agenda, the overprotection by the Masari Led administration is truly uncalled for!
The calculation should now move to UMYU, How many staff (academic and non-academic) were molested by Mallam Funtua? Some of the staff he sacked ranging from those in the School of Remedial Studies down to other junior staff since he took over the affairs of the University? How many votes is Masari going to lose in 2019 from these staff and their relatives just because the APC led administration is playing dump ears to the flight of the people in UMYU to protect in a bid to protect their brethren I.I. Funtua? Let us come down to the young ones students of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina whose leadership was sacked because we felt the ‘sacred’ goat Dean of Students that attracted lots of newspaper condemnation for the university owing to his immaturity and ignorance of student leadership, the VC was asked to be replace the Dean, but the Mr Know all- Dictator Funtua is busy protecting him: Atleast there are about 8,000 students both male and female, we know in addition to our struggling lecturers and the nonacademic unions trying to educate Katsina State about this man before he crashes the University, and the Government is appearing unaware of this danger of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina destructive moves by I.I. Funtua. We have since resumption from the first semester break been expecting to see our first semester results, none is forthcoming, again we are about to write our second semester examination in uncertainty? This is wickedness!!! The ‘Vote of No Confidence Recipient: I.I. Funtua did not suffer when he was an undergraduate, nobody withdrew him even as he is not a first class recipient neither was he a 2-1 holder! Yet, he is subjecting us to all sorts of humiliation, uncertainty, threat and disgrace. His Dean of Students enters female hostel room irrespective of their condition and it is a known fact that a moslem must not enter another person’s not even a female room without seeking for permission, but this Dean enters girl room even as some are half naked and Funtua is happy with him that he dissolved the Student Union Government at will because we asked for his replacement, the Student leadership is dissolved and we don’t want to engage in riots but, we are being pushed to the wall !!!
We pay huge sum of money as Health Insurance fees annually and no drug is supplied in the University Clinic which made some of our mates die for Common Malaria and Snake bites. Or it is another connivance to defraud students more funds for nothing!. Though we are in a regime where even the clinic ambulance is not fuelled because of Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC: I.I. Funtua’s wickedness in the name saving money for himself- WHEN IT IS ELECTION TIME, who is mad to vote for the APC led administration under Masari who is only politicizing restoration agenda by painting buildings and is playing deaf ears for the removal of the Vote of No Confidence Recipient I.I.Funtua; the man earned the first title in the history of UMYU as he appears Mr Right and is not ready to conform to the needs of a promising Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina staff and students. Those who read this piece should kindly advice Governor Masari never to seek for re-election come 2019 or he will suffer the defeat no gubernatorial aspirant has ever witnessed, no rigging will bring him back to office due to the following nefarious activities he committed along with the Vote of No Confidence Recipient I.I.Funtua- his accomplice both intent to destroy Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina.
Elongated Government muteness on the report of the visitation panel- yet to made public;
Continued stillness about the report of the whitepaper committee that we are sure it was written in line with the visitation panel recommendations;
Conniving with the Vote of No Confidence Recipient I.I.Funtua to destroy the work of President Umaru Musa Yar’adua – the only University where the common man’s sons and daughters do afford its registration fees and manage to survive to get a degree for survival;
Having a hidden agenda to destroy Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina;
Allowing the Vote of No Confidence Recipient I.I.Funtua to persist even as he is destroying the system;
Refusing to sack I.I. Funtua who withdrew more than 2200 students since his coming and who are at large some of whom are ready to give their lives to make sure Masari fails come 2019;
Refusal to intervene as more than 150 Graduates of UMYU who were deceived to come to the Remedial School and abandoned their jobs and were left with no employment as such they and their families will not forgive the –‘APC Change’ Government;
Appointing his enemies in Government to ill inform him of the realities at hand in UMYU namely: His SA Higher Education and other highly placed persons in the administration who rule behind the curtain that are giving cover to the Vote of No Confidence Recipient I.I.Funtua for some favours so that their kids are employed without interview and they are awarded contracts anyhow as kickback!
Let it explicitly clear to all that, with the above, the APC Led administration of Masari dare not attempt to seek for re-election in Katsina State as we the students, those withdrawn by the Vote of No Confidence Recipient I.I.Funtua, our families and the entire work force and their families will surely VOTE MASARI OUT -come 2019 since he is adamant to flight of the Katsina Indigenes to pursue their hidden agent which is the DESTRUCTION OF UMARU MUSA YAR’ADUA UNIVERSITY, KATSINA. A national newspaper carried the story some weeks ago, up till now, those who matter in Katsina appear to be adamant to advise the Masari Led Government as he too is ready to scold anyone approaching him pursuant to his hidden agenda against UMARU MUSA YAR’ADUA UNIVERSITY, KATSINA
The entire staff of UMYU, their families, well-wishers and all their dependents and who are beneficial to their efforts including the graduates of UMYU since inception, their families and a community of people who belong to UMYU from 2006 to date will definitely not allow the APC led administration to succeed come 2019 because it is now clear there is a hidden agenda to destroy the legacy of Mallam Umaru Musa Yar’adua (May Allah forgive him and continue to shelter him in Jannatul Firdausi) and History will carry the banner of what Aminu Bello Masari did to ground our University. God, the Almighty will surely judge all and the wicked will surely suffer even in the world!
We the students of UMYU are aware of reconciliation process going on to appeal to staff of UMYU to allow the Vote of No Confidence Recipient I.I.Funtua finish his tenure; let us understand something vital, no sick person survives after being diagnosed of 36 illnesses even if he is a saint at a time when the patient is not ready to take medications as prescribed by the Physician on the ruse that he is still healthy!!!- so the negotiation effort by whoever will never work as the staff and students are convinced that the ‘Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC: I.I. Funtua will never change and that all the people to hime are all fools only him is clever and wiser and is always right!!!
The Vote of No Confidence Recipient I.I.Funtua is either not a real Professor or is sick in the Head or is pursuing an agenda to destroy the University notwithstanding what others will say; because no true Professor will witness what transpired at the public hearing of visitation panel and remain the same afterwards; in that public hearing, staff came out physically without fear and stated their grievances against the Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC I.I.Funtua but instead of him to adjust and solve the problems pointed, so as to completely change and all the grievances tactfully addressed, he claimed he was right and all the University Staff and Students were wrong- ONLY THE FOOL IS ALWAYS RIGHT. He continued his maladministration with only his treasurer one man from Daura- Mohammed El Marzuk collecting money into his account on daily basis and making positive returns to the Vice Chancellor later in the week. He refuses to work with even his deputies and other professionals employed by the University saying he does not trust anyone as if the funds being utilised are his family’s treasure as that he can travel out for a whole week outside the country and leave the University with no one to take charge.
The Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC- I.I.Funtua was not ready to accept his mistakes saying that even his brothers at home knows that he is perfect and always right in all he does: (it could be part of the madness of the Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC I.I.Funtua - as such even the present effort to reconcile will never work well because someone has to accept he has wronged people before he can change his ways, but the Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC I.I.Funtua believe he was right and that they want to sack him because he was from ‘karaduwa’ a slogan never heard of in UMYU among staff and students as the University is universal and does not recognize this myopic slogan of dictatorship; therefore the No Confidence Recipient VC I.I.Funtua was right by not allowing study fellowship to pursue higher degree outside the University, he was right to make approval for his right hand men only and refuse to extend the gesture to other staff who have legitimate right to be allowed to read; he was right to sack 150 Remedial staff with no remorse, he was right to refuse to offer first class holders automatic employment but was right to employ kids of his cronies with 2-2 degrees without interview, he was right to award contracts that ought to be advertised to his ‘agents’ and pay them even if they do not possess the required registration, he was right to deposit atleast 20 Million Naira weekly to a personal account without fear of due process; he was right to appoint his boys always even as they are not qualified, he was right to make purchase of N41.5 Million Naira, 10 Million Naira vehicles respectively by ‘direct purchase’, he was right to spend the tetfund money to furnish the PG School by direct purchase without seeking for tetfund approval; he was right to use the ‘Allah ya isa- Students’ Money’ to buy choice ‘touch screen TVs in four rooms of his residence and to take those earlier bought to Zaria for his wife’s use; he was right to attend claim estercode of $500 daily five times in a month without leaving Nigeria; He was right to ask for payment mandate of 10, 15, 20 M Naira to individuals he is eager to appease even without payment voucher; he was right to send his cronies foreign workshops and invite ‘experts’ to hold in house workshop for other staff so that they do not benefit from any monetary benefit for attending workshop to make them more qualified to work; he was right to give one night DTA to other staff who have to travel to Abuja for official works while claims 3 nights for himself; he was right to award contract to individuals he likes from Zaria even the so called three quotations; he was right to award contracts of about 25 boreholes in the permanent site to the tune of more than N25,000,000 in the University without any viable water being a Professor of Geology; he was right to repair official vehicles that are without book value to the tune of N3 m with infinity; he was right to convert the University fund personal and no fear; he was right to leave snakes to become a nuisance to the University community to the magnitude of killing students without paying for the clearing of the university surroundings; The Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC I.I.Funtua is after all ALWAYS RIGHT. As such he commits no offence and feels no penitence and the Masari led administration is busy protecting him! Thank God the ICPC is inspecting their books.
He claim he was always right as such let it be clear to whoever is ready to listen that the Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC-I.I.Funtua is no good to anyone even his wife: we are certain is suffering from this wicked man, a man that whoever works with him cries, a man of no good to even his family, a man who is always right, such individuals are not likely to change because their personality is formed along that line as such no matter the negotiation, he is what he is and no amount of entreaty can change him. A man who was often heard scolding the Governor for not being intelligent and is being covered by him!
It is on the basis of the above issues raised, we want to conclude that there is a grand hidden agenda to destroy this young but promising and vibrant University by the Masari led administration under the leadership of the Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC I.I.Funtua- A professor who never learn and who is always right !!!

The Vote of No Confidence Recipient I.I.Funtua is either not a real Professor or is sick in the Head or is pursuing an agenda to destroy the University notwithstanding what others will say; because no true Professor will witness what transpired at the public hearing of visitation panel and remain the same afterwards; in that public hearing, staff came out physically without fear and stated their grievances against the Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC I.I.Funtua but instead of him to adjust and solve the problems pointed, so as to completely change and all the grievances tactfully addressed, he claimed he was right and all the University Staff and Students were wrong- ONLY THE FOOL IS ALWAYS RIGHT. He continued his maladministration with only his treasurer one man from Daura- Mohammed El Marzuk collecting money into his account on daily basis and making positive returns to the Vice Chancellor later in the week. He refuses to work with even his deputies and other professionals employed by the University saying he does not trust anyone as if the funds being utilised are his family’s treasure as that he can travel out for a whole week outside the country and leave the University with no one to take charge.
The Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC- I.I.Funtua was not ready to accept his mistakes saying that even his brothers at home knows that he is perfect and always right in all he does: (it could be part of the madness of the Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC I.I.Funtua - as such even the present effort to reconcile will never work well because someone has to accept he has wronged people before he can change his ways, but the Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC I.I.Funtua believe he was right and that they want to sack him because he was from ‘karaduwa’ a slogan never heard of in UMYU among staff and students as the University is universal and does not recognize this myopic slogan of dictatorship; therefore the No Confidence Recipient VC I.I.Funtua was right by not allowing study fellowship to pursue higher degree outside the University, he was right to make approval for his right hand men only and refuse to extend the gesture to other staff who have legitimate right to be allowed to read; he was right to sack 150 Remedial staff with no remorse, he was right to refuse to offer first class holders automatic employment but was right to employ kids of his cronies with 2-2 degrees without interview, he was right to award contracts that ought to be advertised to his ‘agents’ and pay them even if they do not possess the required registration, he was right to deposit atleast 20 Million Naira weekly to a personal account without fear of due process; he was right to appoint his boys always even as they are not qualified, he was right to make purchase of N41.5 Million Naira, 10 Million Naira vehicles respectively by ‘direct purchase’, he was right to spend the tetfund money to furnish the PG School by direct purchase without seeking for tetfund approval; he was right to use the ‘Allah ya isa- Students’ Money’ to buy choice ‘touch screen TVs in four rooms of his residence and to take those earlier bought to Zaria for his wife’s use; he was right to attend claim estercode of $500 daily five times in a month without leaving Nigeria; He was right to ask for payment mandate of 10, 15, 20 M Naira to individuals he is eager to appease even without payment voucher; he was right to send his cronies foreign workshops and invite ‘experts’ to hold in house workshop for other staff so that they do not benefit from any monetary benefit for attending workshop to make them more qualified to work; he was right to give one night DTA to other staff who have to travel to Abuja for official works while claims 3 nights for himself; he was right to award contract to individuals he likes from Zaria even the so called three quotations; he was right to award contracts of about 25 boreholes in the permanent site to the tune of more than N25,000,000 in the University without any viable water being a Professor of Geology; he was right to repair official vehicles that are without book value to the tune of N3 m with infinity; he was right to convert the University fund personal and no fear; he was right to leave snakes to become a nuisance to the University community to the magnitude of killing students without paying for the clearing of the university surroundings; The Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC I.I.Funtua is after all ALWAYS RIGHT. As such he commits no offence and feels no penitence and the Masari led administration is busy protecting him! Thank God the ICPC is inspecting their books.
He claim he was always right as such let it be clear to whoever is ready to listen that the Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC-I.I.Funtua is no good to anyone even his wife: we are certain is suffering from this wicked man, a man that whoever works with him cries, a man of no good to even his family, a man who is always right, such individuals are not likely to change because their personality is formed along that line as such no matter the negotiation, he is what he is and no amount of entreaty can change him. A man who was often heard scolding the Governor for not being intelligent and is being covered by him!
It is on the basis of the above issues raised, we want to conclude that there is a grand hidden agenda to destroy this young but promising and vibrant University by the Masari led administration under the leadership of the Vote of No Confidence Recipient VC I.I.Funtua- A professor who never learn and who is always right !!!
