Relevant stakeholders of education in the state have been charged to ensure constant monitoring of some in relevant text books used by their pupils at primary and post primary schools in the state. This was made known by the wife of the state Governor Hajiya (Dr) Asma'u Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar Shattiman Zamfara at the state finale RANA Reading Festival, held at teacher training centre Gusau.
Her excellency who was represented by the wife of secretary to the state government Professor Balkisu Aminu Shinkafi, said the constant and continuous of reading Hausa nobles by our children is only resulting to non academic performance of our Ward's
Professor Balkisu urge parents and teachers to from time to time be checking and monitoring what the children and pupils are doing at home and schools.
Professor Balkisu on behalf of the wife of the state governor thank the organisers of RANA reading festival in the state from the cluster to the final level. Especially the board and management of the state universal Basic Education Board for providing enabling environment and support for the success of the programme.
The wife of the state governor, express her appreciation on the performance of the participants at all categories of the competition.
Hajiya Asma'u reiterate her redness for the continuous support and cooperation to any activity that will transform the education of our state to the next level.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Honorable Commissioner of education Alhaji Mukhtar Muhammad Lugga said the political will of the state government to partner with any institution both governmental and nongovernmental targeting to promote education in Zamfara state is always granted.
Honorable Mukhtar Lugga also speak that, ministry of education and all its parastatals are working toward providing quality education to the teaming youth in the state.
The commissioner specifically commend the effort of Honorable Murtala Adamu Matawallen Jangebe for the positive transformational initiatives he introduces at basic education level in the state.
Lugga identified the competition as another development in the areas of reading and numeracy activity in the state.
The commissioner also pressed the state government for providing school structure, teaching aid and capacity building to our public schools teachers in the state.
According to Lugga, state government is spending reasonable amount of money in order to provide conducive atmosphere of learning cutting across all level of education. He hoped that the initiators of this programme will also think of introducing other important activities that will bring positive changes on our educational process.
Briefing the gathering about the RANA reading festival, the executive chairman of Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board Honorable Murtala Adamu Matawallen Jangebe,, said the programme start from the cluster level to zonal level and the final round up of the activity which take place on the 19th Dec, 2017.
The Executive Chairman highlight that, board resolved to support the festival as a result of outstanding performance of the pupils in primary one, two and three.
Malam Murtala indicate that teaching our children how to read and write with their mother tongue, will enable them to understand the concept easily, according to him with (RANA) in some of our primary schools now pupils from P1, P2 and P3 can read and write in Hausa language correctly.
He considered its as a duty of the board to give the best basic education, as its stand the only foundation to all other level of education, Malam Murtala lamented that in no small time Zamfara state will be a reference point to all states of the federation in many areas of grass root education especially reading and writing numeracy and Jolly phonics among many other programmes.
Matawallen Jangebe thanks the state government under the leadership of the state Executive Governor Alhaji (Dr) Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar Shatiman Zamfara for attaching much emphasis to education by providing all that is required for rapid development of education in the state.
Many important personalities were in attendance at the occasion which include the Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, Emir of Kaura Namoda Alhaji Muhammad Ahmad Asha, Emir of Kwatarkwashi Alhaji Ahmad Umar, Professor Aliyu Muhammad Bunza of federal university Gusau (FUG), State SBMC chairman Dr. Abubakar Dogo Mafara and host of many others personalities.

I am so much in support of restructuring of our educational sector. The level at which our educational sector deteriorated is beyond imagination and needs a very powerful, fearless and serious minded person that will totally overhaul it for the interest of the people and nation at large. That is why I doff my hat for Kaduna state governor Mallam Nasir El-rufa'i for having the guts and audacity to do what others found difficult. Where I'm not with him, is the method he applies to remedy the negative situation. But it has to be done if he's to revive the sector. In most of the states and local governments in Nigeria, primary school teaching has become a politically compensating ground for politicians' wives and relatives whenever election is won. It resulted in having half literates as teachers in most of the primary schools. This, and other factors, contributed a lot in deterioration of education in Nigeria.
