I have not uttered a word since the State Government/Labour Union fracas started, because the last time the Labour Union resolved to take similar action against the government, they ended up disappointing me and the generality of the people.
At the end of the struggle, the Union will succumb to pressure and threat, resolve to end the industrial strike without actualising, at least, 1% of its demands despite the unremorseful, strong-headedness and I don't care attitude of the governor.
This comes up after the action of the Labour Union (strike) subjected the generality of the people to unjustifiable harshness and suffer and crippled the already crippled or non existing economy that sees more than 90% of the population in destitution.
If not the civil servants/people have been pushed to the wall, they might not have supported the Union on this, because they have failed and betrayed them on many occasions.
To justify my argument, while the state is in deep crisis, the state governor has left for the United States to attend the UNGA as an observer in the President's entourage without officially assigning someone to meet with the Union. Even the Acting Governor that met with them yesterday, said he was on his own.
The state governor should have constituted a high powered committee, under the leadership of the state deputy governor to meet with the labour Union before he left for the US. But he left without anything close to this.
I don't see any iota of care, compassion or concern in this attitude. With all this, the Union may likely call off the strike after subjecting many people to unnecessary hardship without any positive result.
If this happens at the end of the industrial action, and if care is not taken, this is what may likely happen, therefore, the governor will come back, may be via N2m chattered plane from Abuja walking, talking and looking at the Labour leaders and the civil servants majestically, disdainly and with pomposity.
By taking this likely decision, the Union will only justify what people like Mallam Saidu Maikwano said.
