Recently, NLC and TUC in zamfara state embarked on indefinite strike that resulted in completely shutting down every sector of civil service in the state; Hospitals and schools remained closes, water board, markets, motor park and banks also joint the strike action that paralysed economics activities in an already economic struggling state.
The NLC and TUC are on strike over what they called, poor conditions of service and the state government declining to implement minimum wages in the state, promotion and areas, leave grant and annual increments among other things. Its on records that zamfara state civil servants have the least salary in the federation and the most exploitative, despite exposed to various series of verifications.
Upon all these atrocities and inhuman treatment of workers, the Islamic clerics in the state maintained the conspiracy of silence and turned deaf ears, non of them cares to preach and remembers the state government on their obligations to fulfilled their campaign promises to workers.
Predictably, Malam Saidu Maikwano maintained his antecedent as a pro government preacher, suddenly resurrected in his usual attempt to always depend the government through twisting Islamic narratives to suit his pro government sentiment in return for juicy contract or Hajj and umrah seat at the detriment of poor suffering workers in the state.
Maikwano were quoted to have said" There is no strike in Islamic religion and therefore, the workers are wrong to embarked on the strike no matter the provocation" But maikwano forget to tell us whether if there is broking of promises in Islam?
He equally forget the present government came to power through laid down constitutional procedures and it is the same constitution empowers workers to embark on strike if there is poor conditions of service or unsettle disputes.
MAIKWANO should develop courage to tell government the truth or remained silence on the issue please.
