114 Primary & Junior Secondary Schools To Benefit From Over 3.6b Contract In Zamfara



One hundred and fourteen primary and junior secondary schools from the fourteen Local Government areas of Zamfara state are to benefited from the ongoing renovation and construction exercise by the state Government.

The Executive Chairman, Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Boaed, ZSUBEB RTH Murtala Adamu (Matawallen Jangebe) made this known while briefing press in his office shortly after awarding the contract to the indigenous contractors by the state Governor Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Mafara).


The Chairman, said that the state Executive Governor has approved the total sum of Three Billion six hundred and thirty six million one hundred and thirty four thousand fifty two kobo (N3,636,184,747,52k) only for the exercise.

Ho.  Murtala Adamu said the exercise was aimed at providing enabling environment for teaching and learning at grass root level in the state.


According to the Chairman, the contract consists the renovation and construction of blocks of class rooms, construction of modern offices, provision of teaching aids and other valuable equipments across the fourteen Local government areas as per the breakdown below:-





Hon Murtala Adamu (Matawallen Jangebe) further stated that ten Local Government Education secretariats will have a modern offices for the Education Secretaries adding that the gestures is the first of its kind across the nation.

He said the benefiting areas include:- Shinkafi, Zurmi,  Maradun, Birnin Magaji, Maru, Talata Mafara, Anka, Kaura Namoda, Gummi, and Bukkuyum. According to him the contract will gulf the sum of N392,556,748,60k.


Another segments of the contracts awarded by the state Government in the area of education include the purchase of pupils 7087 units of chairs and tables at the cost of N356,610,000 and office chairs and tables for teachers of both primary and junior secondary schools at the cost of N43,680,000 as well as the improvised blackboards which will be provided to all the renovated and constructed blocks of class rooms at the cost of N40,000,000:00.

To intensify the state government's effort in constant supervision of the projects, the Board employed the services of consultants in collaboration with the Board's Engineers to avoid substandard project implementation.


He urged the contractors to strive hard and justify the confidence reposed in them by the state Government and execute qualitative job according to the contractual agreement.

The Executive Chairman, Hon Murtala Adamu (Matawallen Jangebe) also advice the benefiting communities across the state to be vigilante and imbibe the maintenance culture so as to utilize the facilities provided for their betterment, and urged them to be supportive of all government policies and programmers with a view to improve the quality of education in their respective areas which by extension promote state and national development.
