Gov Yari Stop Convoy To Help Accident Victims In Zamfara

By Yusuf Dingyadi

One side of his heart, a human kind governor of Zamfara state attend to the victims of the road accident along Mafara-Sokoto road this morning despite his tight busy schedule to reach Abuja, just as officials of the road safety (FRSC) failed to answer our SOS some thirty minutes after we put our call through.

The governor who was on his way to Sokoto from Talata Mafara met us helplessly waiting for an ambulance to evacuate 6 victims of the accident, where he immediately order first aid assistance to them and their evacuation to Talata Mafara General Hospital, he also donated N500k for their medical and drugs bill after assigning one of the officers with his convoy and ambulance to ensure with the medical attention to the victims, especially a small boy who was among the victims.

My deep sympathy goes to the driver of the car among victims who have suffered multiple fractures.

What baffled us at the scene of the accident is poor response from the officials of the FRSC who we called to come and help, but they were not available up to the time of the arrival of governor Yari and his convoy.

There is need for the Road Safety officials in Mafara to readjust with the way they respond to urgent emergency call on the accident victims.

Spending over thirty minutes waiting for them in a distance place of 15 minutes drive is an alarming issue and very poor in saving lives of the victims.

The people around who participated in the help of victims has commended the kind gestures shown by Governor Yari in the evacuation and assistance to accident victims. Governor Yari's attitude toward attending to these people when it matters most, he delayed his journey, came out inside rain to show his sympathy and attends to victims and ensured that they were evacuated with financial help for their drugs and treatment was a great service to humanity and big lesson to all of us,  especially with those who are habitually ignoring accident victims along the roads.
