Let's Call A Spade A Spade: Buhari Has Not Failed Nigerians!

For quiet sometimes now some of us have been silent about the unnecessary and biased criticisms against the personality and administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. They are those who believe that the President has failed woefully to deliver on his campaign promises, while others are of the opinion that the President is incompetent.

I want to first believe that those critics are either ignorant of the development in Nigeria or they are trying to shy away from speaking the truth.

If they are ignorant of the happenings in the country then we will conclude that they are a century behind development but if they are shying away from speaking the truth then we will also conclude that they are the most incompetent and the greatest failures in Nigeria.

I am always amazed each time I hear people criticising Mr President and his administration without the critics themselves been able to identity what Buhari actually promised Nigerians during his campaign. The critics have also failed to differentiate between Buhari's campaign promises as an individual and that of APC as a political party.

It should be remembered that President Buhari throughout the electioneering campaign period in 2015 made three promises in the 36 states of the federation and the FCT. His promises include thus:

(1) To fight Insecurity
(2) To fight Corruption
(3) To revive the Economy.

Any right thinking member of the society will agree with me that this administration has done greatly in the fight against insurgency and other security challenges across Nigeria when compared to 2011-2015.

On the issue of fight against corruption in Nigeria, the administration is fighting corruption and corruption is also fighting back. We have seen what happened to most of corruption cases in Nigeria that ended in favour of corrupt individuals.

Lastly is to revive the economy, an unbiased mind will agree with me that this is a gradual process as no country in the world revived a collapsed economy by corrupt leaders for many years within a short period of time.

It was a big surprise to hear the former President Goodluck Jonathan saying that President Buhari has failed woefully adding that his administration did better than the current administration.

He has forgotten his statement in 2015 that no government can fix Nigeria in just four years as such, he needed another four years to complete what he started. But he expected Buhari who is a magician to have fixed Nigeria in two years what he (Jonathan) and his party destroyed in sixteen years.

This is the last statement I expected from the man who ran a very corrupt administration that led the country into recession.

The man whom his predecessor left billions of dollars in the nation's treasury but he left empty treasury for his successor. Yet, he has the guts to refer to a government that is facing the challenges of reviving the country from the existing socioeconomic and political backwardness and Nigeria's poor records of credibility in the international community as a failed government. Even with the Dasukigate alone, I expected him to have buried his head in shame.

Yes, there is hardship in the country but who laid the foundation? It was the same people criticising Mr President today who stole our God's given resources for their selfish interest at the detriment of the majority of Nigerians.

There is no gainsaying that there is every need for this government to double efforts towards ameliorating the sufferings of Nigerians but the criticisms should not come from Mr Jonathan and his party because they are the course of our sufferings today. Critics that know the price of everything but value of nothing.
