Zamfara Labour Union Calls Off Strike


The organised labour in Zamfara State today suspended its two weeks old industrial action after reaching an agreement with the state government.

According to the Labour union, the suspension of the strike followed the commitment made by the state government to the union at a meeting with state Head of Service yesterday in government house Gusau.

The Labour said that the state government has agreed to pay the 18,000 minimum wage, payment of gratuity as well as to release all outstanding promotion to all workers .

While calling on workers in the state to resume work immediately, the state Labour Union expressed gratitude to all workers for supporting the two weeks old strike.

The union had embarked on an indefinite strike since 10th September, 2017 , to protest their 18 minimum wage’, lack of promotion and annual increments for six years among others .
