Sokoto Indigene Graduates With First Class In Electronics And Communications Engineering From UK

Youth in Sokoto state celebrates the first Nigerian to win the prestigious FBC Manby Bowdler Prize for the Best Performing Student in Electronics and Communications Engineering. A plausible achievement of one of their own, a proud Sokoto Son, Mr.Nasiru Garba Bello. He is a recent graduate of Electronics and Communications Engineering with First Class Honours degree from the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.

The 24 year old Sokoto guru has multiple experiences as an intern in Web Programming at Open Ximdex Evolution Sevilla, Spain and participated in Royal Navy Undergraduate Leadership Programme and Hartee Hack Event (Hartree Center, STFC) at Daresbury United Kingdom, all in the course of his stay as a student.

However, the journey of Mr. Nasir began here at home in Nigeria, where he was studying Chemical Engineering up to first semester, year two, it was where he also began acquiring the knowledge of engineering mathematics, Physics (Properties of matter and electricity) and lab report writing at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Some of the inventions of Mr. Nasir are staggering hence could not escape the attention of those around him. He is good at simulation of PID controllers on Matlab to investigate and improve system performance and has also designed and built a wireless energy monitoring system as his final year project among others. Jargon right? Yes it's a bit technical! But it's also worthy of knowing that Mr Nasir has received an invitation to work with the a European multinational cooperation and a renown airplane manufacturers, Airbus.

Perhaps the airbus invitation is as a result of a report and presentation he wrote and presented on De Havilland Comet's BOAC flight 781 crash and its impact on commercial aviation. The direction which Mr Nasir is taking makes us recall the Successful Chevrolet designer Mr. Jelani Aliyu, another Sokoto boy who designed the widely celebrated Chevrolet Volt.

However, Mr. Nasir did not accept the airbus invitation because he prefers to further his studies for now. The people of Sokoto are indeed blessed with the likes of Mr Jelani Aliyu and Mr Nasir G Bello.

Recently, the Sokoto State government granted scholarship to Mr Bashir Aliyu who is identified as a potential car designer by Late Nasir Zarumai. Mr. Jelani Aliyu will always serve as an inspirational figure not just to the people of Sokoto State but Nigerian at large. He and the upcoming ones must understand that they have a task ahead of them to encourage such innovations and creativity among our youth using various means available to them. Sokoto State has indeed proven capable of producing innovative and creativity minds.

The Sokoto State Government and other stakeholders also must continue honouring such achievements to encourage other young Nigerians. Although, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has indeed showed commitment in embracing talent and creativity in the singular action of sending Mr. Bashir to the U.S. We encourage The Digital Governor to do more in taking us completely into the digital age. The NYCN in Sokoto is willing to assist and support the government is such commitments.

The Youth of Sokoto State are proud of your Achievements Mr Nasir, we look forward to your meaningful contributions to the future of our State and Country in general.

Signed,
Bello Bala Shagari,
Caretaker Chairman,
NYCN Sokoto Chapter
